Our Beliefs

The Gospel

“Christ died for our sins”

What must I do to be saved? We must come to grips with the fact that the Bible says each of us will have a day of reckoning when we stand before our creator. The death rate is still the same, one per person! Then what? Hebrews 9:27 says; “And as it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this, the judgment.” The book of Job asks: “How then can a man be justified with God? How can he be clean that is born of a woman?” Romans 3:10 & 23 says: “There is none righteous, no not one, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”  Romans 3:24 answers: Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

The gospel is stated in I Corinthians 15:3 & 4, “that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” It is not by good works, but “…the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”, Romans 6:23. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone! Trust Jesus Christ and his cross-work and receive the free gift of eternal life!

The Bible

II Timothy 3:16, 17, Psalms 12:6, 7

“Bible” is our middle name, and is at the heart of all we do! We are an independent nondenominational Bible church. We believe God inspired, and has preserved, all 66 books of the Bible which we call “scripture”. Yet due to the many different English versions of the Bible now available, there is a great deal of confusion about the identity and final authority of God’s word today.

People today do not realize there is a significant and serious difference between the new modern versions of the Bible, and the King James Version. The New International Version, along with all of the other versions published after 1881 are based upon a different Greek text than the King James Version of 1611. When compared, there’s no comparison! We do not check everyone’s Bible at the door, but we do believe the KJV is God’s preserved word for English speaking people, and use it in all our preaching and teaching ministries.

The Grace Life

  “Not I, But Christ!”

Living the Christian life is not difficult, it is impossible! Many today struggle in their walk with the Lord. The apostle Paul says in Romans 7:18, “… to will is present with me, but how to perform that which is good, I find not.” How do we win the struggle with our self? Do we just learn a list of do’s & don’ts, or try to live up to the standards others might set? According to Galatians 2:20, “… I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me…”. Verse: 21 goes on to say; “I do not frustrate the grace of God, for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain”.

Jesus Christ has freed us from the curse of the law. We are free from condemnation, but not evaluation. Conviction is healthy when we view ourselves as forgiven and accepted in him, and then adjust our behavior to match who we are in Him! We are to put on the mind of Christ by letting his word dwell in us richly, thus allowing Him to live his life in us. It is the word of his grace that is to teach us to live soberly, righteously and Godly in today’s world. The focus is not I, but on who I am in Him, and then He living His life in me by grace! Grace does not ignore or excuse sin in ourselves or others, but we are motivated and governed by his love for us to do what is right!

Rightly Dividing The Word of Truth

II Timothy 2:15

All of God’s word is inspired and profitable to the believer, II Timothy 3:16 & 17. While God himself never changes, his dealings with mankind down through the ages have! Before the flood, God told man to eat only plants. After the flood every creature was good for food. When God established the nation Israel and gave the Law through Moses, certain animals were considered unclean and forbidden. Later through the apostle Paul He said; “… every creature is good and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving”.

The changes in dietary laws demonstrate the principle of dispensational Bible study. We need to recognize the progressive unfolding of God’s word, and distinguish when, and to whom, God is speaking, and what he is talking about. This principle is vital to understanding God’s word. The most basic and important distinction to recognize is the difference between God’s prophetic purpose for the nation Israel under the Law in time past, Acts 3:19-21, and the mystery, his secret un-prophesied purpose for the church the body of Christ today under grace, revealed to Paul,  Romans 16:25 & 26.

When we recognize the distinctions God himself has made, and “rightly divide the word of truth” according to II Timothy 2:15, we see the big picture and how the whole Bible fits together! The answer to many of the differences Christians have, is to see where those doctrines fit in relation to the overall plan and purpose of God!
